David Rockwell

David Rockwell, FAIA, is the founder and President of Rockwell Group, an interdisciplinary architecture and design firm based in New York with offices in Los Angeles and Madrid. Merging theater, performance and architecture, the firm’s work includes hotels and restaurants, theaters and cultural institutions, transportation hubs, products, exhibitions, and set designs for more than 75 productions. His latest book DRAMA was published by Phaidon in 2021. Honors include a Tony Award for Best Scenic Design for She Loves Me; two Emmy Awards for production design for the Oscars (2021 and 2010); the AIANY President’s Award; the National Design Award from the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum; the Pratt Legends Award; and the Presidential Design Award. Known for his commitment to non-profits, David serves as the Chair Emeritus of the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) and as a board member of Citymeals on Wheels and New York Restoration Project.
