M21D works with collecting institutions to tell new stories about objects and their impact on people and the environment. We experiment with new types of storytelling and perspectives, such as from the future, or from the view of nature.

How does your city hold up to the future?

An online exhibition based on the Contra Miradas research team's 130 interviews and six months of investigations about life around the Metrocable in Medellín, Colombia.

14 April to 9 October 2022, Almere: An exhibition that explores the complicated relationships between technology, science, and humans.

M21D began a Museum Fellowship Program in 2023 for recent masters degree graduates.

This annual program is co-produced with the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York and honors the memory of Ralph Caplan. Speakers highlight design with creative and critical perspectives.

The M21D team collaborated with MIT Museum to research and co-produce the exhibition Gene Cultures, on view October 2022 - ongoing.

October 22 - 30 2022, Eindhoven and online: In 2104 researchers from the Museum of 21st Century Design completed a study of artifacts discovered at excavation sites around the Netherlands. The museum present these works of design and what was learned about them for the first time at Dutch Design Week of 2105.

In development: a series of workshops and an accompanying exhibition about shaping urban public space. Participants are invited to propose changes to the future design of their city and learn how to be more active agents in municipal decisions.
