Ben Cerveny

For over 25 years Ben has worked as an executive, strategist, and designer in several contexts including media applications, web services, operating systems, digital games, as well as architecture and urban planning. Cerveny is founder of the Foundation for Public Code, an organization dedicated to making civic code (policy or regulation) as well as computer source code (software), work better for citizens. The Foundation pursues this mission by developing, validating, and stewarding open source software, such as digital infrastructure at the scale of the city. Previously, Ben was a Design Fellow at Samsung, helped design the massively multiplayer game that became Flickr, and was CEO of Bloom Studios, whose data visualization iPad app Planetary was acquired by the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum. Cerveny delivers lectures at learning institutions worldwide.
